Of Fish And Foe (15 TBC)

Kinokulture Oswestry's Community Cinema, Shropshire, SY11 1JN
Tue 13th August 2019
Following his look at farming the land in The Moo Man Andy Heathcote's new film journeys to the Atlantic coast off Scotland to witness a clash between two tribes – fisherman and animal activists.
The Pullars are one of the last families using traditional methods to fish for wild Atlantic salmon. When these methods involve killing seals, the salmon’s natural predators, conflict erupts.

Animal activist groups Sea Shepherd and Hunt Saboteurs oppose the Pullars at every turn, despite the legality of the fisherman’s actions and the consequences to their livelihood.

Challenging preconceptions with a balanced observation of the battle, this ambiguous, stirring documentary is a gripping exploration of modern environmentalism.

"Succeeds in capturing a disappearing lifestyle at a critical point in history. It's a film whose value is likely to increase with time and an intriguing point of a little-observed community." *** Eye For Film
