This certified course provides theoretical and practical training in First Aid techniques that are specific to babies and children. Learners will become familiar with the role of the paediatric first aider and be able to assess and react appropriately to an emergency situation. This course meets the Ofsted and EYFS requirements.
This qualification is provided over a period of at 12 hours contact time over 2 days. Those taking this course would typically be childcare workers, nursery staff, nannies, childminders and early years teachers. The content of the course will be:
- Checking for signs of breathing
- Assessment of injuries
- Recovery position
- Infant and child resuscitation (CPR)
- Causes of unconsciousness
- Bleeds and shock management
- Childhood illnesses
- Rules and Regulations
All successful students will be issued with a Paediatric First Aid certificate which is valid for a period of 3 years, and a Paediatric First Aid manual.
