The curtain opens on Domenico Soriano, a wealthy Neapolitan shop-keeper raging against Filumena, a former prostitute. They have lived together for 26 years as husband and wife and she has tricked him into finally tying the knot. Domenico however has his eye on Diana, a young girl already in the house pretending to be a nurse.
Filumena, with 3 sons to think about,has a trick or two up her sleeve.
