Rob Gittins: The Working Life of a Screenwriter- a Workshop for Adults

Sat 13th August 2016 1:30PM
Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea, SA1 1RR

Have you ever wanted to write for TV- or film- or write a novel? Spend a few hours with one of the UK's top TV drama writers and find out how it's done.

Rob Gittins has written for most of the UK's top-rated TV drama series for the last thirty years, including Eastenders, Casualty, The Bill, Soldier, Soldier and Heartbeat.

In recognition of his role as the longest serving writer in the history of the show, Rob received an Outstanding Achievement Award in 2015 for his work on Eastenders. Rob has also written over twenty original radio plays for BBC Radio 4 and over a hundred episodes of The Archers. Rob's fourth novel, Investigating Mr Wakefield, was published in April 2016.

Rob will talk about his career- how he started, the different shows he's worked on- as well as explaining the different ways those dramas work. Rob will answer your specific questions- so do come prepared!- and there'll also be a hands-on guide to creating stories for long-running shows.
