Stirling Bridge International Arts Festival at TROON OLD PARISH CHURCH

Troon Old Parish Church, Troon, KA10 6EB
Fri 5th July 2019 7:30PM

Join the Troon Boys' Brigade Pipe Band and the Lethbridge Community Band all the way from Canada in concert; a precursor to this year's Stirling Bridge International Arts Festival.

The Lethbridge Community Band’s mission statement expresses their commitment to the prospect of enriching the quality of life in the City of Lethbridge and the surrounding area through promoting the study and performance of instrumental music, with special emphasis on literature of the concert band and various forms of ensemble music commonly written for woodwind, brass wind and percussion instruments.
Formed in 1987 to fill a void in the Lethbridge music scene, the Community Band has continued to flourish by providing a learning and performance outlet for brass, woodwind and percussion players of all ages. Since its inception, the society has grown to become a valued cultural asset of Southern Alberta, Canada.

1st Troon Company was formed in 1919 with a 14 strong pipeband and has continued to provide a tune not only for the Company to march to but for many other community and national events.

They have won numerous awards with Season 2012 being the band's most successful season ever! They won the Scottish, British and European Championships, were 3rd in Cowal and 4th in the World Championships finishing the season as runners up in the RSPBA Champion of Champions and thus being promoted to Juvenile Grade.
In 2016 the band was crowned RSPBA World Champions (N/J) - a phenomenal achievement for a "wee band from Troon".
In 2018 the band became UK Champions which put the band's name on every Major Championship trophy and completed the set of Major Championship wins for Pipe Major Christopher Bone.

Join both these groups for an evening not to be missed!
