The DadaMentia Clinic Workshop with Katryn Saqui
During Dementia Action Week, artist and support worker Katryn Saqui will introduce her pilot ‘DaDaMentia Clinic’ which is a temporary participatory art installation. This has been developed to offer new ways of experiencing dementia by providing unexpected treatments and remedies to draw out positive attitudes towards a dementia in unusual ways. These include dispensing a vaccine against boredom, a linguistic disposal unit and a fortified tonic, all aimed specifically to break down perceived barriers around behaviours, mobility, speech and memory.
Katryn will run 2 hour workshops from her clinic based inside the Trowbridge Town Hall for people who have loved ones living with an early onset dementia.
These friendly sessions aim to provide space for participants to share, reflect and learn from each other through their personal experiences. Participants will leave with unusual insights and philosophical remedies for a more enlivened mutually enriching ‘poetic and joyful experience of daily life with a Dementia’, which could lead to developing a new family legacy of memories and build confidence.
