Waterloo Festival - Mahlerís First Symphony Performed by Ernest Reed Symphony Orchestra
Mahlerís spellbinding first symphony broke new ground when it was first performed in 1889.
The Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Christopher Stark, bring verve and passion to this performance at St Johnís.
It will be preceded by a concerto by the winner of the ERSO Soloist of the Year competition.
About Ernest Reed Symphony Orchestra (ERSO)
One of Londonís leading and longest established amateur orchestras, ERSO was founded in 1931 by Ernest Read, a pioneer in music education and youth orchestras and known for the long-running Ernest Read Concerts for Children.
ERSOís members are music students, professional musicians at the start of their careers and talented amateurs. Principal Conductor, Christopher Stark, is best known as co-founder and co-Artistic Director of RPS Award-winning Multi-Story Orchestra with whom he made a critically acclaimed BBC Proms debut in 2016 in a Peckham car-park.
